Dr. Daoping Wang of the CEADs Team Is Recruiting Outstanding PhD Students in Global Change Risk and Artificial Intelligence

The CEADs team brings together scholars from research institutions in China, the United Kingdom, and other countries. The team has long focused on assessing and responding to global change risks, providing a solid theoretical basis and technical support for global risk adaptation and sustainable development. Dr. Daoping Wang of the CEADs team will recruit PhD students through the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy at King's College London for entry in autumn 2024. The specific research directions are: development of global change risk assessment models and information platforms based on artificial intelligence technologies, and digital and intelligent management of risks. The scholarship fully covers tuition fees and living expenses. During the PhD program, students will have opportunities to visit and study at institutions such as the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany and the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, as well as universities including the University of Cambridge, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Maryland.

About the Supervisor

Daoping Wang holds a PhD in economics and is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at King's College London, a researcher at the Artificial Intelligence for Environmental Risks Centre at the University of Cambridge, and a World Economic Forum Hoffmann Fellow for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His research focuses on global change risk management and the application of artificial intelligence technologies and socio-economic theory to disaster risk assessment and governance. His work has been published in journals including Nature Sustainability, Nature Human Behaviour, and Green and Low-Carbon Economy. The risk management tools he has developed provide scientific support for policy design and management practice by governments and businesses. Recently, Dr. Wang has focused on the application of artificial intelligence technologies, including reinforcement learning, to disaster risk assessment and management.
